Can I choose by brand only?

No. LiftMaster, DoorKing, Viking, US Automatic, Ramset, Apollo, FAAC, Nice, HySecurity, and Linear systems all vary by model, charger, controller, enclosure, and accessory load.

What charge profile should I look for?

Look for a LiFePO4 setting or adjustable charge voltage around the battery datasheet range, commonly 14.4–14.6V for many 12V LiFePO4 batteries. Avoid equalize and desulfation modes.

Does float voltage matter?

Yes. A lead-acid float profile may undercharge or keep the battery at the wrong voltage. Some installs need the controller changed or reprogrammed before lithium is appropriate.

What about solar gate operators?

Send the solar panel watts, controller model, existing battery label, enclosure photo, and daily gate-cycle estimate. Solar systems are usually a better fit when the controller can be set for LiFePO4.

When is AGM still the safer service choice?

Use AGM when the charger is fixed lead-acid only, the site charges below freezing, the controller behavior is unknown, or the service company needs a like-for-like replacement for warranty support.
